Traveller's Blanket top

Here it is, and I'm happy both with the colour and with the circles.  I made them different sizes, with a few doubles for interest.

I'm not so concerned about the depth of shade of the backing and middle, so I'm off to rinse and wash those now.

Lovely output. But the dummy in me has a question: what do you call the "middle"? Is this the batting? If so, why do you dye it?
Are you enjoying the snow? I'm writing from the garden...

Hi Veronique, the cotton muslin top is quite loosely woven and I didn't want any white showing from an undyed middle fabric. As it's just flannel, it's not really batting, just another layer of fabric.
