A change is as good as a rest - so they say

Why, you may be asking yourselves, why is this woman Not Doing Anything?
No dyeing, no quilting, no creative stuff at all?

Ok, I have a confession to make.

I have decided to leave Oamaru and move back to Christchurch, where I lived before. Consequently, I am busy getting my house ready to sell, looking for another house, arranging a mortgage (ugh) and everything that goes with moving yourself and a business.

I'm not a quitter, but sometimes you have to accept that things haven't worked out the way you expected and/or hoped. This is one of those times.

Please bear with me and lack of creativity, as I am in Ruthless Sorting mode.

Meanwhile, here's a half Log Cabin lap quilt I made some years ago and gave to my mother. She has subsequently told me she doesn't like green so uses the other side which features a small and boring maroon print. Sigh.

That's a big decision to make but good luck and I hope you find a nice cottage in the hills and away from the smog. I'll miss your lovely dawn shots of the coast. Have you considered Diamond Harbour or the like?

I first read you blog as "I am not a quilter", glad that part was wrong.
We had a 'place in the sun' program on the other day and they showed houses in NZ by the sea like yours.
I was ready to be on the next plane out there.
I am so very sorry it hasn't worked for you. It must break your heart to leave such wonderful sunrises.
On a positive note, change is always exciting and an adventure. The very very best wishes for your new life in Christchurch.

It's odd... as I read through my blogroll everyone seems to be moving or experiencing some type of major transition in their life. Anyway... Good luck with the move. I'll miss the pictures of those fabulous sunrises.

I hope the move works out as you want it to, Shirley. Good luck with it. If I wasn't on the other side of the world, I'd come and give you a hand...

I will always have a very soft spot for Christchurch. I love the place! And I loved living there, I am sure you will also.
Good luck with your move, it is always hard having to uproot yourself, & the ruthlessness required can be quite upsetting.
Sometimes mother's can be quite waspish, & they dont always realise it!

whew, big decision.
i hope it works out as well for you as mine (to give up the interiors and paint full time) has for me.... you take your talent and your inner happiness with you wherever you go, it is not dependant on where you live!
hugs

Moving is quite a stressor. Take good care of yourself during the transformation.
