Today is Queen's Birthday holiday in New Zealand, though not the Queen's
actual birthday.
I spent the weekend at the North Otago Quilters' Exhibition, and here's a shot of a quilt top I'm whipping up out of my new range of "Blended" fabrics. I'm keeping it simple, so that it's a)quick and b) shows off the stripey look of the fabric. This is just the bit I've made so far - it will be bigger than this. I plan to applique some circles on top of the strips.

I love your harlequin quilt Shirley but does it really need anything else with all the wonderful colours in it.
This is absolutely beautiful!
I love the clear light of the colours. Check out the cover of the latest Quilting Arts magazine.
Similar oh so summery colours. (realising you are moving toward winter, but.....)

cathy who really isn't anonymous ;-) from KQers list. See Shirley I do read the list :-) even if sometimes I'm not doing a great deal - the colourways are so gorgeous you really do like to dye stuff. Looking forward to seeing the applique circles and of course seeing it finished.
I did do something creative today my 36" loom finally got dressed completely and I started weaving a differential shrinkage scarves length on it. And my 42" which has been sporting a fully dressed warp for some eons got to see me throw shuttles.
I'm going to "try" and allocate more time to do this sort of thing!

in West auckland where it was a glorious day but there is definitely a nip and the shade is a tad cooler
Here in Canada we celebrate the Queen's birthday on May 24. I think it is still queen Victoria's birthday. Don't ask why. Everyone is just happy to have a long weekend and traditionally that is when people who are lucky enough to have one, open up their cabins at the lake for the summer.
Love your colours. THey inspire me to get on with dyeing.
Lovely colours Shirley and I think the circles will be interesting!
I love this quilt Shirley and I look forward to seeing what it looks like with stitched circles. Beautiful I would imagine.
I think you must be inspired by those lovely sunsets! It looks great already, I can't wait to see where you go from here!
