Here's Bag #2 alongside the iron so you can see the size. These bags are lined and interfaced, so are strong enough to stand up by themselves. I'm making them out of fabric that's been sitting in my stash for years. The linings are made from old hand-dyes. It takes about an hour to make one.You could use anything - old curtains, furnishing fabrics, calico - or sew together orphan quilt blocks to make the outer pieces. Perfect! It's just what I was looking for to take my books to guild. :-). I already have lots of the floppy shopping bags and I can't see replacing them until they wear out.

I have made lots of grocery bags but never thought of interfacing them so they'd stand. Great idea. I may have to start again. Yours are so nice and bright.
