I am still working on this quilt made from my new "Blended" fabric range (available here). It's a bit hard to photograph it at present with the sun so low. I can't make a decision about whether to put any kind of border on this - any suggestions from readers? No? Yes?
i know that the window/light is giving a somewhat different look but hey it looks quite cool just like it is. I would suggest maybe a dark border - I'm fond of brights with deep dark "set it off" elements
ReplyDeleteWould a border/frame pieced in the same manner as the body of the quilt work if it is done in all dark fabrics? The colours really zing so maybe just a wide binding or narrow border in dark fabric is all that is needed.
ReplyDeleteI like a dark border on bright quilts, it seems to enhance the bright colours. I would suggest black, but from experience know that you have to 'sample' various colours to get the best result. Love the quilt and the dyed fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley, I would like to see it with a bright border, say dark lime or red so that the colours are enclosed and don't appear to "escape". Looks great Cheers Deryn
ReplyDeleteNo suggestions re a border, but its certainly a stunning photo. It would be lovely to capture the effect of the sunlight in a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe colors qre beautiful. I also like the light play on it. Could you use that as inspiration? Maybe a layer of sheer fabric overlay for the shadows?
ReplyDeleteI just used sheer overlay on my June JQ to hold the pieces on, & add a slight sparkle, but a darker overlay could be a shadow.
